Drum Farthingale
Drum Farthingale
The Drum Farthingale, also known as a Wheel Farthingale or French Farthingale, was most notably worn by Queen Elizabeth and high nobility in the sixteenth century. This listing includes two separate pieces meant to be worn together; an over-sized firmly-stuffed bum roll and the wheel farthingale. The wide wheel section of this skirt support creates the extreme skirt silhouette favored in this time period.
The farthingale is made of 100% densely woven cotton twill. It is boned throughout with removable 5/8" steel hooping and 1/2" steel boning. It closes at the center back with adjustable ties. The hem circumference is 92", diameter from side to side is 28" and from front to back 24.5" . This wheel section is worn on top of an over-sized bum roll, the wheel sits at angle. The front angles down as the back is directed upward.
The included bum roll features adjustable ties at center front and is constructed in white or black 100% cotton twill with poly batting.
