Period Corsets® and politics
Period Corsets gets political! Two separate performances focused on presidential history, selected our historical undergarments to support their costumes.
Ford's Theatre celebrated the grand reopening of their theatre, and the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth with a new play, "The Heaven's Are Hung in Black". Costume Designer Wade Laboissonniere's period costumes were called "transporting elements" in the Washington Post review. To achieve the proper silhouette, the women's dresses were supported by Period Corsets’ c. 1860’s era Julia Corsets, 19th c. Hoops, and our 3 Ruffled Petticoats.
Period Corsets historic ensemble: corset, hoop, and petticoat
Period Corsets is political! In honor of hosting the final presidential debate, Hofstra University celebrated Democracy in Performance with a day of living history. Cheryl McCarron's costume designs included our c. 1860s Julia corsets (undercover, of course).
